Vice President of Engineering

Ryan Douglas is a geotechnical engineer at LGC Geotechnical with more than 12 years of geotechnical engineering and consulting experience. Ryan began his career shortly after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Ryan’s first few years were spent in the laboratory and field learning the foundations of geotechnical engineering while simultaneously attending graduate school for his master’s degree. As his career progressed, Ryan has developed an unwavering commitment to understanding his clients’ needs and exceeding their expectations.

As a licensed geotechnical engineer and project manager, Ryan has successfully led countless geotechnical evaluations and construction projects ranging from industrial projects to master planned hillside residential developments. Ryan has managed numerous projects including residential, commercial, industrial, transportation, and public works. His technical expertise includes design of shallow and deep foundation systems, earth retaining structures, MSE wall design, bridge foundation design, settlement analysis of deep fills and structural loading, soil laboratory data evaluation, seismic hazard analysis, site liquefaction potential, lateral spreading, slope stability, deformation analysis, and landslide stabilization, among others. Ryan currently serves as the third-party geotechnical reviewer for several cities in south Orange County and provides his knowledge and experience mentoring undergraduate engineering students in the annual Senior Design Project at his alma mater.

Ryan resides in San Clemente with his wife Aya and three young children. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys the great outdoors and traveling with his friends and family. Snowboarding was his true passion in college, spending nearly every weekend in the mountains. Now his hobbies are a little closer to home and often involve mountain biking, rock climbing, a round of 18, and supporting his children in youth sports.
